According to some rumors, Akira Amano has an impressive Yamamoto x Gokudera doujinshi collection. It really is a shame that I'm not Akira Amano. Naturally, there's no way for me to prove it, but the idea is so amusing and... not impossible to imagine.

Here's a fun little fic meme! Rules: write 10 categories of fic using as few words as possible. My first choice is Yamamoto x Gokudera, but I'll probably do more pairings later. Please note that my interpretations of various fic types may be somewhat loose, and sometimes I use them as keywords and not, you know, actual genres. Oh, and there's some profanity (thanks to the lovely Gokudera-kun, of course). And sex. And random references to Hunter x Hunter.

Yamamoto x Gokudera )

DO IT TOO, GUYS.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn #255, again: damn, like I've said, Chrome is way too adorable for her own good. I want to take her home. It's a pity that I don't trust Mukuro enough to pair them up (and feel entirely okay about it), because they're awfully pretty together. Chrome makes me feel kinda... protective, perhaps unnecessarily so. Yet I don't mind seeing her with people like Hibari for some reason.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! #254: bah, and here I wanted Yuni to kick Byakuran's ass in actual combat. I guess there are nice things that I just can't have. Still, she's very pretty. Also, Squalo and Hibari look awesome together (not as a pairing, I mean... though wait, that sounds fine, too).

You know, I need to stop fantasizing about Byakuran and Shouichi's university life and start thinking about my own problems. Unfortunately, my brain seems to prefer the boys.

1. About New Prince of Tennis #10-11, once again: I'm too tired and I guess I won't analyze it thoroughly after all, but... it's awesome, really, and I'm so in love with Atobe and Hiyoshi. I'm glad that they're actually fond of each other and it's so obvious.

2. Katekyo Hitman Reborn! #253: okay, Amano, do you want your fans to write university!fics about Byakuran and Shouichi? Trust me, they will write them, now that it's canon and all (and seriously, Shouichi actually describes that time as the happiest period of his life). Haha, and who was Shouichi's secret first crush, I wonder? Also, I have nothing against Byakuran, but I want Yuni to kick his ass, at least metaphorically.

3. And now I'll go and watch Pan's Labyrinth for the second time. ♥

Good Stuff

1. I'm reading Mushishi! It's really awesome. I've seen several episodes of the anime before, but I probably won't continue it anytime soon; the manga, however, is quite fun to read. Its atmosphere is slightly similar to that of Natsume Yuujinchou, which I'm also familiar with, only Mushishi is more surreal and somewhat less character-driven, I think? Er, I don't know how to explain it, but in Natsume Yuujinchou, Takashi Natsume's personality plays a very large, defining role (and so do his relationships with humans and ghosts), while Mushishi is more focused on the exploration of mushi as a fantasy concept. Or so it seems to me. Not that Ginko is not an interesting dude, no, but I usually catch myself caring more about Yuki Urushibara's bizarre mythology than about Ginko's biography while reading. Anyway, Urushibara is an excellent writer. I adore one of her short stories, The Labyrinth Cat (which is available here; this manga always makes me cry for some reason, but it's strangely beautiful and poetic), and I might become a big fan of Mushishi's dream-like world. It just suits my tastes very well.

2. Our local library is wonderful, but damn, it has only 2 or 3 books by Margaret Atwood, and I've read them all already. I guess I'll have to read an e-version of The Handmaid's Tale. So far, it seems like a pretty great dystopia, with religious issues and all. But, argh, I hate reading stuff from screen. I almost always print fanfics out when they're longer than 3000-5000 words, but I can't go to the office and abuse our printer right now (and I don't really want to, it's not like I miss work or anything; I'm so... anti-workaholic, it's not even funny).

3. Katekyo Hitman Reborn! #252: hmm, now this is nice. Will this inspire a wave of Byakuran x Shouichi fanfics (with tons of angst, of course)? Because it totally makes Byakuran sound like Shouichi's destined - okay, okay, shutting up now. It's a fun idea and I like it! I'm generally rather fond of stories about parallel futures and such things.

I've finished the available chapters of Katekyo Hitman Reborn!. At last. Lord. My brain. Um... I'd like to read some decent fanfics? Preferably the ones with Gokudera and Yamamoto in them (as a couple or as friends)? I know, I'm so original, but I can't help it, their interaction is terribly... cute, no matter how Gokudera feels about it. My friend, who understands Japanese fandom terms better than I do, says that he acts kind of like a typical tsundere around Yamamoto, and, well, I'm willing to trust her. Yamamoto himself is awfully sweet, too, and his box animal is an akita inu! How adorable is that? So... yes, I suppose it's safe to call them my current OTP, although my understanding of this term is extremely liberal and it often means gen!OTP - as in, I'm interested in all possible interpretations of their relationship, it doesn't have to be romantic (in other words, please rec your favorite gen to me). Now, random notes!
  • Strangely enough, I don't care about Mukuro.

  • ...and Dino x Hibari. Hibari himself is cool, though.

  • Hibari's connection to animals is my favorite part of his personality.

  • Squalo amuses me. Way too much, I think. He's so... explosive.

  • Lal Mirch! ♥

  • Chrome! Tsuna! Kyoko! Haru!

Uh, all in all, Katekyo Hitman Reborn! isn't exceptionally well-written, yet it gets strangely addictive after the first several volumes and then you find yourself craving for fanfics (and doujinshi, too, though not all doujinshi, because I can't stand the way Tsuna is portrayed in some fancomics; no, people, he is not 3 years old, I swear). Don't misunderstand me, I do like this manga, it's very entertaining, maybe not brilliant, but... fun. And, well, I won't deny it, I like yaoi, even when it's only fanon. I don't slash everything under the sun, but I do enjoy it, and therefore, Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is... relevant to my interests.

My next post will be about fine literature and ancient philosophy. Totally.

1. I'm still very much in love with Death Note - which is a sign of stability, I suppose. Well, I have a RL friend who loves it even more, in fact (thanks to me and my wise influence!), and I find it great because I get to chat about Mikami's divine awesomeness with her. He is not really the world's most popular character, so every fan is precious ♥ or something like that, haha. Our shipping preferences are a bit different, but that's hardly a problem since we aren't militant about this kind of stuff. I don't know about the fandom's latest trends though - I... don't interact with it, mostly due to my lack of interest in Raito x L and Mello x Matt slash.

2. I like Bakuman, Ohba & Obata's newest creation, very much.

3. I have this intense love-hate relationship with Code Geass, as a series and as a fandom. I'll probably never leave it for good, although there are so many things that... bug me about it, and the fact that I'm kinda similar to Lelouch in certain subtle ways bothers me sometimes, but it's so... fascinating, like a shipwreck, especially the 2nd season. Spoilers! ) And I sort of ship Lelouch with Suzaku (when I'm not busy fangirling Suzaku's painfully short-lived romance with Euphemia) - normally I don't like to pair up enemies, but this ship just... works for me, unlike most of Lelouch's relationships with girls. I don't think that he knows what to do with girls, to be honest. He can be fantastically clueless, that guy.

4. I'm planning to catch up with Katekyo Hitman Reborn! sometime soon. So far, I like Gokudera and Chrome a lot. There's something... utterly adorable about their devotion to Tsuna and Mukuro respectively. Plus, Gokudera has white hair. I find that quite hot.

5. New Prince of Tennis deserves its own post.
