Hey Hey

Still on hiatus. D'oh.

You know what I really want? I want a full set of the Hikaru no Go manga (the new edition). Also, I'm endlessly amused by the fact that there's one guy in the Chinese team (sorry, can't remember his name) who totally looks like a certain overly religious prosecutor from another manga drawn by Obata. Even his image color is the same. Someone has a fetish, I think, and that someone is not necessarily me.

...oh, whom am I kidding.

So in the end, I didn't submit anything to Blind Go. I'm sorry. I'm currently on hiatus due to various sucky real life-y events (nothing serious, it's just my job and such things). Life can be difficult like that. But at least I'm alive!

It's September 1, huh... I think I need to start working on my Blind Go fic. Smart, huh? I even have some... vague plans!

Blah...

...September's gonna be a hard month. That's why I want my Hikaru no Go databook to arrive soon, I think I'll need an extra source of happiness.

1. No Shounen Jump this week. Wah.

2. So... I guess I need to start thinking about my Blind Go fic, eh? I have some vague ideas (though I won't reveal them here! Ha!)... it'll probably be short and quite possibly Hikaru-centric because I love the kid. It's amazing just how much I love him, really - I'm a pretty fickle fan, my preferences are not that stable, but Hikaru is one of my eternal loves, along with Teru and Atobe, and I always enjoy just... thinking about him. Basically, I'm an obsessed otaku, yes. But they are so awesome!

1. I'm officially 25 now! Well, technically, I was born... around 5 PM, I think, and it's 2 PM here right now, but who cares about that, right? Mom is cooking mushrooms for me! And then we'll have a cake and peaches, oh man, I love food. And my family.

2. I really love these character notes from the new edition of Hikaru no Go. I'm definitely planning to buy a couple of books from this set - I'll never have enough money for all of them, but damn, my Italian volume #9 is just not enough (I mean, it's awesome and it features Hong Suyong whose cuteness rivals Hiyoshi's cuteness, I simply want more)! I don't even know Italian in the first place. I'm especially pleased with the bit about Waya and Hikaru's friendship. Somehow... it doesn't surprise me at all. Oh, Hikaru, you're so oblivious to... just about everything around you. And the part about Ogata is absolutely hilarious. And, hmm, the segment about Isumi implies that he and Sai are polar opposites of some sort, on the symbolic level. This is so interesting.

3. Where are my New Prince of Tennis scans?!

The "You Should Write..." Meme!
my thread here

Please give me prompts! I won't promise anything, but I'll keep them in mind. My fandoms are in my profile. Thanks in advance! Meanwhile, have a shamelessly fluffy and utterly pointless Isumi + Yang Hai ficlet. Bah, plots are overrated. It takes place right after the Hokuto Cup, so there are some subtle spoilers. I... never really know what to write about these two, but they're fun to play with and Yang Hai clearly has a thing for his ridiculously pretty little Japanese friend. So here we go. As usual, I hope that my English is not completely atrocious.

Title: After the Storm
Characters: Isumi, Yang Hai, mentions of others.
Warnings: Very mild romantic guy x guy stuff.
Words: 805
Summary: Yang Hai and Isumi meet and have a short talk.

1. I saw a lizard today! It was so tiny and cute.

2. I'm re-reading my favorite parts of Hikaru no Go (such as volume 16, about Isumi's adventures in China! With Yang Hai!) and toying with some ideas for Blind Go. Hmm... incidentally, am I the only person in the whole fandom who doesn't think that Akira needs a makeover? I mean, sure, it's a well-known fact that I have no fashion sense, but I dunno. His clothes seem cute to me. A bit old-fashioned, yes, maybe, but not bad. Or do they look bad in the anime? I only really know the manga, so. Argh, damn, fashion is so confusing and people pay way too much attention to it. Oh, and Hikaru in particular doesn't strike me as someone who cares about his friends' dressing habits. Eh, um, I'm not bashing anyone's fanon here and I'm sure that this plot can be done well, I just don't see what exactly is so wrong with Akira and his wardrobe.

3. Alright, where are my New Prince of Tennis raws? I need to see the Atobe VS Hiyoshi match. It's my not-so-secret OTP and I simply love Hiyoshi and his psycho mushroom tennis, even though it's impossible for him to win. And, um, well, Atobe. Everything is better with Atobe.

Well. Here comes my first Hikaru no Go fanfic in... a long while. It doesn't really have a plot and is somewhat disjointed, but it's based around one of my favorite ideas; basically, it implies that while Hikaru interacts with a great number of people all the time, he is only truly close to Sai. Or maybe it's just a writing exercise. By the way, there will be another round of Blind Go in September! I seriously want to sign up, it allows short fics~ ♥

Title: In the Distance
Characters: Mainly Hikaru, with several background pairings.
Warnings: None, I think? It contains slash and het, but both are mild.
Words: 750
Summary: Hikaru Shindou is twenty-five years old.

I'm planning to buy the official Hikaru no Go character guide in August. I don't even understand Japanese all that well (or rather... I know some words and expressions and that's it), but damn, I must have this thing in my library. Well, I also really want to buy the whole manga set, preferably the new edition with Obata's insanely gorgeous covers, but... that won't happen anytime soon. The databook, however, is actually affordable.

I won't lie, I'm quite bothered by this discussion. I'm a total nobody in the Hikaru no Go fandom, I've never been particularly active in it and I probably won't become active anytime soon, but I'm very fond of it. I love the series deeply and I respect many people in this fandom; I've always liked it for its general maturity. And I don't want it to get wanky. Perhaps it's inevitable, but still, I'm just honestly upset, even though I'm not truly close to anyone involved in this conflict (I mean, I have actual friends in the Hikaru no Go fandom, but they aren't in the very center of this kerfuffle, so to say). No, I don't think that the concept of plagiarism is overrated. At the same time, I do believe that this term is to be used cautiously, especially in literature, where plots are constantly recycled. Even the idea of Death Note is not 100% new - there's a short 70s manga by the great Shigeru Mizuki that is also focused on a mysterious killing notebook, but most people in Japan, including Mizuki himself, don't seem to view that as a possible legal issue (at least I've never seen or heard any negative comments from Mizuki, and he's influential enough in the manga department, more so than Ohba). I understand that it's a completely different situation, but... anyway, I think that the atmosphere is too heated and painful for everyone. Naturally, I can't just show up with a PLAY NICE! flag and stop the wank; even so, it's sad to look at. And I guess I'm being subjective here because the accused person is a friend's friend, and I hate it when the ones I care for are hurt, whether it's fair or not. Um. Perhaps I simply need to read all posts related to this situation.
